Dial-a-Ride (Door to Door)
The Door-to-Door Dial-A-Ride program provides reliable and convenient transportation services tailored for seniors and individuals with disabilities. With flexible scheduling options and attentive service, this program ensures that you can get to your destination safely and comfortably.
Eligibility
To use the Dial-A-Ride service, you must be 65 years or older or have a qualifying disability. Registration is required, and once approved, you will receive a Dial-A-Ride (DAR) card.
Service Areas
Dial-A-Ride service is available within the City of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, and the unincorporated areas of Newbury Park, Oak Park, Ventu Park, Lynn Ranch, Rolling Oaks, Hidden Valley, and Lake Sherwood.
Hours of Operation
Weekdays: 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Weekends: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Reservations
Advanced reservations are strongly advised and can be made by calling the ride coordinator at (805) 375-5467. Please have your DAR card number and the exact street address of your destination, including apartment or suite numbers, when making a reservation.
Subscription Reservations
For riders needing transportation at the same time daily to the same location, available for up to 90 days.
Advanced Reservations
Made between one day and two weeks in advance with no limit on the number of reservations.
Same Day Reservations
Must be made at least two hours in advance, with up to three reservations allowed per day.
First Available Service
For trips not requiring a specific pick-up time or when capacity is limited.
This option requires opting into the RADAR notification system.
Fares
Standard Fare: $4.00 per trip each way.
Ticket Purchase Locations
One-way, pre-paid tickets can be purchased at following locations:
- City Transportation Center
- City Hall Finance Customer Service
- Goebel Adult Community Center.
RADAR Notification System
Thousand Oaks Transit’s RADAR system keeps you informed about your scheduled trips via phone, text, or email. Choose your alert preferences and receive notifications the night before or moments before your ride arrives. This system helps you manage your time effectively and avoid late cancellation or no-show penalties.
Important Tips
- All vehicles are equipped to accommodate riders using mobility devices
- Drivers will assist with boarding, exiting, and securing mobility devices
- Up to three grocery bags or small items (each weighing 20 pounds or less) are allowed per rider
- Door-to-door service is available upon request
- For safety, drivers cannot change drop-off locations, make intermediate stops, or use drive-thru lines
